Practice philosophy: Dr. Umeugo believes in forging relationships with people to understand their mental, health needs and goals, and work collaboratively with each individual to develop a plan to achieve their best possible state of health.

BIO

Dr. Vivian Umeugo holds a doctoral degree in Psychiatric Nursing practice. She is the CEO of Asten Behavioral Health in Largo Maryland and the associate medical director at QCI behavioral health White Plains Maryland. She started her nursing career 15 years ago and received an Associate Degree in Nursing. She continued to pursue her interest in nursing, graduating with honors, from American Sentinel University, in Aurora Colorado. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing leadership and management at Western Governors University Salt Lake City, Utah. She also obtained a post-master’s degree in Family Psychiatry and mental health at the University of South Alabama. Dr. Umeugo completed her Doctor of Nursing degree from Wilmington University in Delaware. 
 

Dr. Umeugo is a Board-Certified Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, licensed in Maryland and Washington D.C. Her previous nursing experience includes work in pediatrics and mental health settings, oncology, palliative and hospice care, medical surgery, case management, community health, in-patient hospital, and out-patient clinics.

She is qualified to evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide array of mental health conditions across the entire lifespan. She has experience treating patients with Schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, OCD, impulse control disorders, bipolar and mood disorders, ADHD, Trauma and PTSD, psychosis, substance abuse disorders, personality disorders, behavioral issues, sleep disorder, and other psychiatric disorders.

 

She is an active member of several professional organizations including the American College of Nurse Practitioners, American Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, and Sigma Theta Thu international Honor Society.
